Portraiture And Figurative
I have always been drawn to the human face. After many years of studying portrait drawing and painting, I still find each face endlessly fascinating—familiar and mysterious, beautiful and utterly unique.
For me, portraiture is more than capturing a likeness. It is an act of attention. Every face carries a story, and I am looking for something beyond the surface—that glimpse of spirit and presence that makes this particular person unlike anyone else.
My life as an artist and my vocation in ministry have taught me the same thing: to pay attention, to look deeply, and to honor what is before me.
I see God’s beauty reflected in every face. Perhaps that is why I will never tire of painting them.
Landscape and Architecture
I love being outdoors and traveling to new places, but what stays with me most are often the small moments—a particular light across a field, a dramatic sky, the shape of an old building, a pathway disappearing into the distance.
When I travel, I sketch and take photographs whenever I can, gathering impressions to bring home to the studio. My paintings are not simply records of where I have been. They are memories of what made me stop and look.
Painting has taught me that beauty is everywhere when we pay attention. Sometimes it is grand and breathtaking; sometimes it is found in an ordinary corner or a fleeting moment of light.
These landscapes are my way of remembering those moments with gratitude—and of sharing something of the wonder I experienced there. For me, the natural world continually reveals the presence and creativity of God. I paint what has made me pause, hoping the painting might invite someone else to pause and notice, too.
Still Life, Animals and Florals
The beauty of God’s creation is everywhere we turn. Whether I’m painting flowers, animals, or the familiar objects of everyday life, I’m drawn to color, light, and the beauty found in ordinary moments. My hope is that these paintings invite you to pause, look a little longer, and discover the joy that comes when we truly notice what is around us.
